Traditional Therapy

When you think of therapy, this is probably what you are picturing. Traditional therapy, also known as talk therapy, is based on the core idea that talking about the things that are bothering you can help clarify them and put them in perspective. Talk therapy is not just “talking about your problems”; it is also working toward solutions. Most of today’s talk therapy is brief and focused on your current thoughts, feelings and life issues. Focusing on the past can help explain things in your life, but focusing on the present can help you cope with the present and prepare for the future. You might see your therapist or counselor more often when you first begin working with them, and later, as you progress towards your goals, you might have appointments less often.

Innovative Options

We also offer sessions outside of our office for those more comfortable in other settings. Perhaps you prefer a phone session. Or maybe you would prefer to talk as your therapist and you walk around the park adjacent to The Cabin. Perhaps you want a little adventure. We provide adventure therapy that is a hands-on and outdoor-based form of therapy that uses active and experiential approaches to help clients.

In addition to counseling, we provide clinical training and supervision for therapists in training, leadership for support groups, and present educational programs locally, regionally, and nationally.

Your right to privacy and confidentiality is important to us, as is providing you with superior care and following laws to which we are subject.

All client communications and content of therapy sessions are held in the strictest confidence by our therapists and staff; however, our staff may be obligated by law to report certain client information to appropriate authorities. While our therapists prefer not to release or report information to authorities without a client’s knowledge or permission, there may be situations in which reporting of information occurs without the client’s involvement. Your therapist can answer any questions you have regarding this process. To ensure that your sessions provide you with maximum benefit, and to provide your therapist with professional accountability, content of your therapy sessions may also be discussed with other therapists on staff at The Cabin. Extreme care is still exercised to preserve the highest level of client privacy.
